Partner Reading

One of the many ways we work on building our Reading Strategies is to practice using the strategies with a partner. Today we chose our own partners and shared our knowledge.

Visiting our Fifth grade buddies

Our fifth grade buddies always come to our classroom. This time we were invited to visit their world. We went to a fifth grade science classroom. We were able to explore the room. Meet a baby chick and some fish and frogs. We toured the gardens and were able to see the coi pond and see a turtle sunning itself. Perfect way to begin a Fun Friday!

Connor's A-Maize-ing Corn Maze

Our first field trip was a huge success! We went to a farm where we were able to meet some bunnies, horses, chickens and even some baby pigs. We went on a hay ride and explored a maze of corn. A good time was had by all. Can't wait to see what our next trip brings!

Fifth Grade Buddies

We have partnered with Mrs. Shannon's fifth grade class for some cross grade level learning. We get together once a week and learn together. We have read together and this week we focused on non-fiction texts. We are discovering that although we are years apart we are more alike as learners than we thought.

Independent Reading

During our daily independent reading, students are encouraged to retell familiar stories. They are encouraged to use voice inflection, hand motions and are strongly encouraged to read with joy. This young lady is doing all of those things.

Star Student

As we begin Skills Block we are beginning with Star Students. Each day we choose one student and we study the name, learn how to write the name and use the name as inspiration for many skills based activities. We do one each day ensuring that every student has the chance to shine.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

We have been reading and retelling The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Today the students took turns acting out the story. The picture is of the middle goat crossing the bridge and the troll jumping up and threatening to "gobble her up". We had a great time learning and laughing together today.

The First Week of School

We had a WILD first week of school. We were given the opportunity to see a wide variety of animals during the Sensory Safari. We learned many new facts about the animals and were allowed to touch them. It was an amazing experience.

Orientation!

Wow! What a great new pack of students. We met almost every student in our class at Orientation. This looks like a great group! Looking forward to an exciting first day of kindergarten tomorrow, and an amazing school year. Get ready for Creek Life!

Ready to Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

The new year is quickly approaching! We are looking forward to an exciting and WILD new school year. Kindergarten Orientation is at 9:00 am on Friday August 16th. The first day of school is Monday, August 19th, at 9:00 am. Get ready for a Wild Experience.

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with arts and crafts, fun treats and we made and tasted green eggs and ham.
